Gel Nimbus 11 by Asics

The 11th version of the popular Asics Gel Nimbus is scientifically constructed with Asics advanced technology called IGS, or Impact Guidance System, to enhance the foot’s natural gait as well as ensure a smoother ride from heel strike to toe-off. The Asics Gel Nimbus 11 running shoes feature the brand’s trademark special midsole material Solyte, intended to diminish the level of shock on impact.

The Gel Nimbus 11 continues to bring excellent platform feel and superior cushioning after 10 years of being at the top of Asics cushioning line. This particular model is constructed with a wider supportive platform and its new feature, a comfort centric upper suited for different foot and gait types.

Identify Your Foot Type Before You Buy Running Shoes

The first thing you need to do before buying a pair of running shoes is learn about your foot type. There are two effective ways to determine your foot type. The first is by taking the “wet foot test” to identify if you have a high, neutral or low foot arch and the second is to check the soles of your shoes for the wear pattern. Having a clear idea on your individual foot type before you go to the shoe retailer will let you know what specific models of running shoes you should look for to address specific foot problems. This article will tell you more about the two effective ways to identify your foot type.

1) Wet Foot Test

This test is very simple. Get the bottom of one foot wet and step firmly on a piece of paper towel or newspaper. If the footprint shows a flare and a broad band connecting the heel and the forefoot, it means you have a neutral or normal arch. If the entire footprint shows, it means you have a low or fallen arch. And if the footprint shows just your heel, the ball of your foot and a thin band that connects them, it means you have a high arch.

2) Wear Patterns

Another effective method in determining your foot type is by examining the wear patterns of your old shoes. You can determine your type of pronation by looking at the soles of your shoes. Pronation is not really a bad thing in itself because this mechanism helps with the shock absorption of your feet and legs. However, excessive pronation, or overpronation increases the risk of running injuries. Runners with low or fallen arches usually experience overpronation. If you are an overpronator, you need running shoes that specialize in providing motion control. Runners with higher arches tend to underpronate. If you are considered an underpronator, you need running shoes that specialize in providing cushioning and shock absorption. If you have neutral or normal arches, you will greatly benefit from running shoes that specialize in providing stability.

Tips for choosing running shoes

It is highly essential to have the proper knowledge on the proper way of buying running shoes. This will help a great deal in selecting the pair that will be beneficial for your running performance as well as for the general health of your feet. There are several important aspects that should take into consideration if you want to find the best running shoes for you.

The first thing you need to do is to determine your foot type:

1) Overpronator – This means your feet tend to roll inward during the stride from heel strike to toe off.

2) Underpronator or Supinator – This means your feet tend to roll outward from heel strike to toe off during the stride.

3) High Arch – This means your foot arch is higher than average and is apparent between the ball of the foot and the heel.

4) Fallen Arch or Flat Foot – This means that the arch of your foot is collapsed and your entire sole is almost in complete contact with the ground.

5) Neutral – This means you are neither high arched nor flat footed.

Some useful tips when buying running shoes:

1) Consider how frequent you plan to run as well as your intended distance. After you have determined your foot type, the next important thing you should do is consider your running distance and frequency. If you are considering taking running seriously, it would be logical to invest in high mileage running shoes.

2) Consider your chosen terrain. The next important factor that should be taken into account is where you plan to run. Keep in mind that most running shoes are intended to be used on firm and flat surfaces such as pavement. If you are planning to run on uneven surface such as mountain trail, you will need good running shoes. These kinds of running shoes provide extra grip and traction, and have a more rugged design.

3) Shop for a new pair in the afternoon. This is the best time to buy new shoes because your feet are at their biggest size. Make sure that you can easily flex the soles, you can move your toes freely and your heel does not slip against the inner sole.
